ProPalette 8035 at the Natural History Museum
As one of the largest and busiest Photographic Units in the world, the unit at the Natural History Museum in London is especially focused on its two Polaroid ProPalette 8035 digital film recorders for inexpensive, easy and reliable slide production.

The advanced ProPalette technology creates 35mm slides from any digital format, whether a camera, computer generated image or stored graphics. The 8,000 lines of resolution ensure excellent pictorial quality and the choice of factory matched camera fittings embraces 35mm, 4 x 5 and 6 x 7 sizes. Statistically speaking, the Museum's photographic team numbers 12 people who link with the five different scientific sections as well as the libraries, marketing and education departments and visitor services. The scale of the ProPalette contribution can be gauged by the average monthly output of 1,000 slides for all purposes.

The Unit is administered by Tim Parmenter who sets the scene. "We have a world wide reputation to maintain, and we have a long pedigree of using and trusting Polaroid products. The ProPalette system gives us complete in-house control of our slide requirements which is cost-effective as well as very convenient. It is quick and easy to use, and the beauty of it is the flexibility offered, whether for one library slide or 80 for a scientist's lecture, it is the most cost-effective equipment of its kind. "
